NO.AA2521 · Signature Collection
Set on a dark grey ground, pale shades drift gently like wispy smoke. The fabric bears a fine, soft texture. Subtle and hazy in colour transition, it unfolds a quiet, understated mood.

When Ink Fades Into Smoke
Where Dark Ochre Rampart speaks in warm earth tones, Ink Pale Smoke Trace speaks in whispers.
It is the moment after rain on a grey courtyard wall — when the ink-wash darkens, then lifts, and thin smoke-like light begins to drift across the surface. There is no dramatic contrast here. No colour that demands attention. Just a slow, breathing gradation between deep charcoal and a barely-there ash.
This is the more introverted member of the Signature Collection. It does not announce itself. It stays in the room — and lets the wearer do the talking.
A Higher Silk Count, A Different Hand
表格
| Component | Content | Role in the Fabric |
|---|---|---|
| Mulberry Silk | 57% | Deeper lustre, softer hand, more fluid drape |
| Flax Linen | 30% | Grounded texture, breathable body, honest slub |
| Viscose | 8% | Refines the surface, keeps the haze clean |
| Elastane | 5% | A more forgiving give — built for movement and layering |
Compared to AA2520, this weave shifts toward silk: 57% versus 40.5%. You can feel it the moment the fabric touches skin. The linen still provides structure, but the silk has softened the edge — the cloth falls more fluidly, catches light more subtly, and moves with a quieter rustle.
The higher elastane content (5% versus 2.8%) also makes this the more versatile piece in the series. It works for long, fluid outerwear, for layered tunics, for shorts and wide trousers worn with a draped coat — silhouettes that need to move with the body rather than hold a rigid shape.
At 27.4 momme, it shares the same autumn–winter weight as its warmer sibling.
The Haze Is the Point
Like AA2520, this fabric uses a Yanli print to let colour sink into the weave rather than sit on top.
But where AA2520 needed a clean ochre-to-black gradient, Ink Pale Smoke Trace requires something harder to control: no clear boundary at all.
The shift from deep charcoal to pale ash must look as if it has happened on its own — as if smoke has drifted across the cloth and settled unevenly. A too-clean gradient would read as a stripe. A too-blurred one would read as dirty. The Yanli finish is what holds the middle line: each tone melts into the next without ever losing definition.
At 135 cm wide, designers can place the haze wherever it is needed — across the shoulders, down the sleeve, or along the hem of a long coat.
Who It Is For
- Minimalist and gender-fluid couture — long coats, draped tunics, layered short-and-long combinations
- Grey-toned collections — for brands building neutral palettes that reject fast-fashion black
- Interiors and installations — curtains, wall-hangings, cushions for quiet-luxury spaces
- Editorial styling — the monochrome surface lets the silhouette do the work
The ASKART Philosophy
We believe that Eastern aesthetics are not about printed motifs. They are about restraint.
Ink Pale Smoke Trace is restraint made visible. It has no ochre, no red, no ornament — only the slow movement of grey across a silk-and-linen ground. For a designer who wants a garment that feels like a held breath, this is the cloth.
